A Mindful Approach to Healing
A holistic approach is the art and science of healing that addresses the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. Mindfulness falls under the holistic umbrella by improving one's self-awareness. It is the ability to be fully present, to be aware of who we are and what we are doing, while at the same time, being aware of what is going on with us without being overly reactive. To live mindfully is to live in the moment and being present, rather than dwelling in the past or worrying about the future.
Being mindful requires us to be nonjudgemental and to embrace our thoughts and emotions. Behind every thought lies an emotion that can be triggered in multiple directions. For example, you are on a jog on the beach, and a song from your playlist comes on (VCR - The XX) that transports you to Coachella 2017 Day 1. A flurry of emotions begin to flow through your body: happiness, joy, laughter, love; all originating that from a single song.
As a holistic counselor, my approach to healing is providing a variety approaches, and modalities that empower the mind + body + soul. Addressing the physical symptoms as well as the deep underlying issues and help reduce the number of appearances. I believe that approaching a specific issue by treating the symptoms, AND the root cause to rewire our brain by creating neuropathways that will benefit us in the long-run.
Each body holds the key to its own healing. I provide the treatments, resources, and tools necessary to unlock the innate potential each of us holds inside. I work to create a safe and compassionate environment for you to discover what will help you lead a healthier and more relaxed life. You can live the life you want, and I’m here to support you along the way.
APPROACH
COUNSELING
I utilize a range of techniques to help individuals understand their symptoms. In addition, such strategies are designed to foster a greater sense of self-awareness to better understand the connections between their body, mind, and relationships and how these elements play a role in mental health.
Such techniques are often rooted in mindfulness, and bodywork practices such as breath-work, meditation, yoga, tapping, and frequency.
REIKI
Providing treatment to patients using the Japanese healing energy practice known as Reiki. During a Reiki session, energy or chi is moved with the practitioners hands move the energy of the patient using the practitioners hands. Reiki is a meditative practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety, and promotes a positive mental state through gentle touch. It's sometimes called biofield therapy.
SOUND HEALING
Sound healing therapy uses aspects of music to improve physical and emotional health and well-being. Healing with sound is believed to date back to ancient Greece, when music was used in an attempt to cure mental disorders. Throughout history, music has been used to boost morale in military troops, help people work faster and more productively, and even ward off evil spirits by chanting.
